Helen Bingley OBE

Helen Bingley qualified as a nurse at 18 and has gone on to manage substantial change in the NHS, private and voluntary sectors in the UK and abroad in various organisations as Chair, Chief Executive, Executive Director, Non-Executive Director and Trustee.

With a keen interest in Equality and Human Rights Helen was a founder member and is now Chief Executive of a UK Registered Charity the Abaseen Foundation UK set up to work in partnership with a Pakistan Social Welfare Organisation the Abaseen Foundation Pakistan, to develop health, education and research in North West Pakistan to improve the lives of some of the world’s poorest people. In 2018 the charity received a Queens Award for Voluntary Service (MBE equivalent). In 2019 Helen was recognised for her contribution to voluntary work in the UK and abroad when she was awarded an OBE and appointed as Deputy Lieutenant to the Queen

With a keen interest in mental health Helen is currently Vice Chair and has been central to the survival and development of Mind in Furness in Barrow in Furness for more than 15 years, one of the most deprived wards in the UK with one of the worst life expectancy rates.

Living close to the Lake District, and with a qualification as a mountain leader, no matter what the weather Helen spends most of her leisure time leading people round the mountains learning to survive in the elements.
