Jez Buffin
Jez has a background in law, social work, education and senior management, with over 40 years of experience gained in the statutory, voluntary, community and higher education sectors.
He has strong people skills, excellent organisational skills, and exceptional leadership skills. He is skilled in both qualitative and quantitative research methods and is highly regarded for his inclusive approaches and commitment to co-production.
He has established significant programmes of research involving complex national and international partnerships, specialising in widening participation, equalities, and social return on investment. He is skilled at using strengths-based, participatory and community engagement methodologies to develop practice near research spanning a number of different domains including: substance misuse, mental health, the prevention of violent extremism, community cohesion, regeneration and the reduction of health and social inequalities.
Jez has experience of working both in the UK (including Northern Ireland) and internationally, including Bulgaria, Austria, Hungary and the Netherlands.
Key partners have included, amongst many others, The Department of Health, the Home Office, the Metropolitan Police, the National Institute for Mental Health in England the General Medical Council, the People’s Health Trust’s and the Care Quality Commission. He was (until July 2024) a Governor at Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust where he chaired the Membership and Engagement Committee.
