Cllr John Beesley FIH
Cllr John Beesley has been a unitary authority Councillor since 2000 and until last year was the Deputy Chairman of Key Cities.
He was Leader of Bournemouth Council for 7 years until 2019, at which time local government reorganisation formed the new BCP Council. Previously he was Deputy Leader of the Council for 5 years and for 12 years he was also responsible for Bournemouth Council’s Resources Portfolio and Council budget, as well as the first budget for the new BCP Council. He is currently Chairman of the Audit & Governance Committee.
He was Chairman of the LGPS Dorset County Pension Fund for 5 years and has served on the Pension Fund Committee for a total of 14 years. He was Chairman of the Brunel Oversight Board which set up the Brunel Pension Pool and represents the LGPS Dorset County Fund on Brunel. He is a Member of the LGA Scheme Advisory Board and has also served on two other LGA Boards in the past.
In the private sector, he has been a Bournemouth hotelier for over 30 years and heads a hospitality consultancy specialising in hotel development and management. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Hospitality.
